Scientists smash battery energy density record

Pouch type battery cells are considered very practical where space is limited.

The best energy density of modern lithium-ion batteries is around 300Wh/kg, but a team of scientists in Beijing has recently set a record of just over 700Wh/kg. This opens a whole new set of possibilities for transport, especially for aviation and marine.
